Small change or small fortune? Prof Phakeng buys 50 Makhadzi tix
After splurging almost R40k for Chris Brown tickets, ex UCT Vice-Chancellor Prof Phakeng has pledged 50 Makhadzi tickets to her followers.
While former University of Cape Town (UCT) Vice-Chancellor Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng – also known as Prof Phakeng – has confessed to splurging a ton of cash on Chris Brown concert tickets, she has also pledged to show local artist, Makhadzi, some love.
The singer has bemoaned the slow sales of her One Woman Show on 21 December at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Limpopo.
Meanwhile, Chris has sold out two shows at the FNB Stadium, hailed the third biggest in the world.
PROF PHAKENG BUYS MAKHADZI TICKETS FOR FANS
Following Makhadzi’s X rant about her slow ticket sales for her December show, Prof Phakeng – who has courted controversy for supporting Chris Brown – tweeted a special surprise.
She posted: “Makhadzi is filling up Peter Mokaba Stadium, and I want to get tickets for 50 young people who will be in Limpopo on the day”.
The former UCT Vice-Chancellor then posted a link where fans could sign up for the tickets. According to Phakeng, the 50 recipients would be chosen randomly.
Prof Phakeng promised to announce the winners on her birthday on 1 November.
It’s Friday today and we’re all about positive vibes😜 Makhadzi is filling up Peter Mokaba Stadium and I want to get tickets for 50 young people who will be in Limpopo on the day. I will post the link to express interest later today. Otherwise, Happy Friday!❤️🥳🥳🥳

SMALL CHANGE FOR CHRIS BROWN TICKETS
While Makhadzi’s tickets for her One Woman Show cost between R70 and R500, tickets to the Chris Brown concert, for a VIP experience, can cost up to R6 000.
And that’s precisely what Prof Phakeng paid when she purchased six “Hall of Fame” passes to the show.
The 57-year-old bragged that the almost R40k was “not even a quarter of what SARS forcefully takes per month.”
According to Daily Maverick, Phakeng received a 12-month payout of her annual salary of R4,184,616, in addition to an “early retirement lump sum” of R8,369,232.
