Thuli P Celebrates Her Journey: “Been a Boss Since 15”

Thulisile Phongolo—better known as Thuli P, is reminding everyone that she’s been a powerhouse long before the spotlight fully found her. Over the weekend, she took to Instagram to celebrate her achievements and reflect on her journey, sharing with pride and a touch of humour, just how far she has come.
“Been a boss since the age of 15, let’s not forget that… been a boss. THULI PHONGOLO… all me, no connections… no shortcuts, no dodgy deals, just hard work. I did THAT!” she proudly posted.
Her career reads like a highlight reel of South African television: Tshisa, Thula, Craz-e, Generations, Makoti, The Republic, Rockville, The Wife… the list goes on. But Thuli P isn’t just an actress. She’s a DJ, a brand collaborator, an advert star, and a holder of a Bachelor’s of Arts in Strategic Brand Management from the University of Johannesburg. “*Oops sorry, I meant that… it’s been so long, I forgot. My classmate had to correct me. Uhm, also left out that I’m a CHEF (Capsicum student) let me cook…” she joked.
Thuli P also took a heartfelt stroll down memory lane, sharing a picture of her younger self from her first brand shoot at age nine. “My dad told my mom to pull me out of my then agency cause I was too young for the industry. I didn’t get it then and my heart was torn but now I’m so grateful that he took that decision. But then Gaenor took me on at 15, thanks to Emirandantshangaseofficial who saw my potential and went on to be my direct contact dealing with mom audition to audition, job to job.”
Her post wasn’t just a résumé—it was a window into her personality. “I’m just a girl! I love life, full of it & love LOVE! In contrast, I’m a fighter! I own my voice and stand by principle. Very funny, I get it from my grandfather… a comedian of note! Hardworking. I just love the idea of maximising potential. Strict! Strict! Strict! To know me is to really love me—dope gyal, ANYTHING BUT ORDINARY.”
And there’s more to come. Thuli P is teasing her upcoming EP, AVANA, inspired by her niece. “AVANA-amakhaya (my niece) inspired AVANA—my story! I can’t wait to share more with you!”
From TV screens to turntables, brand campaigns to academic achievements, Thuli P has done it all—and she’s just getting started. Her message is clear: hard work and self-belief have made her the boss she proudly claims to be.
