Aldrin exits the channel just months after being placed on indefinite leave in May, following an alleged road rage incident in Randburg, north of Joburg in April involving a 20-year-old woman.

In his statement, he expressed confidence in his professional abilities.

“When I join companies, I fix what I can and always leave those organisations elevated. My departure from Newzroom Afrika is no different. While this moment is about me, I want to send a warm hug to my cheerleaders who have been saddened by my exit from broadcasting. I promise to make you proud again,” read the statement.

He explained that he chose to resign because he was being sought for new challenges.

“When the offer came, I went back to Tshwane Mayor Dr Nasiphi Moya’s PHD dissertation The Negotiated Nation: Evaluating Nation Building in the Post-Apartheid South Africa. Reflections on Eskom board chairperson Mteto Nyati’s decision to answer the call to public service have convinced me that there must be more that this darkie can do for his country,” he said.

Aldrin has since joined the Department of Tourism under the leadership of Minister Patricia De Lille.

“This beautiful nation has done so much for me. I’m indebted. State policies like social grants and free primary healthcare helped pull me out of poverty, and journalism was the vehicle. Kasie FM, my first broadcasting home, was itself supported by a state agency, the MDDA,” he said.

Reflecting on his journey, Aldrin described his life as a testament to divine grace.

“Now I get to say thank you in a big way and help pull more people up with me. I’m so damn proud of this little boy. Baby se kind. Remember to love each other and lead with compassion.”
