TxC make history at 2025 BET Awards! South African amapiano duo TxC have made history with a landmark win at the 2025 BET Awards, where they jointly claimed the Best New International Act title alongside Brazilian breakout star Ajuliacosta.

The BET Awards, hosted by Black Entertainment Television in the U.S., celebrate excellence in Black culture and entertainment worldwide.
A Moment of Firsts
At the Peacock Theatre red-carpet event on Sunday, duo members Tarryn Reid and Clairise Hefke expressed shock and deep gratitude.
“This is our very first award, and to win it on an international stage like this is unbelievable,” said Reid. “We’re just so grateful to represent South Africa and amapiano music.”
TxC make history
Hefke echoed her partner’s excitement: “To share this moment with Ajuliacosta is an honour. It shows the world is truly listening — not just to South Africa, but to the global Black diaspora.”
Fashion Meets Identity
TxC stunned in custom outfits by American designer Tyler Lambert, known for his edgy reconstructed streetwear. The pair wore coordinated looks symbolising unity.
“The theme of our dress was ‘joined at the hip’ — it really brought our vision to life,” said Reid. “We’d love to collaborate with more designers globally.”
Gratitude to Fans and Team
The duo also took time to thank their growing fanbase and team.
“To our fans: this win is for you,” said Hefke. “Every stream, every repost, every show — we see and appreciate you. And to our label, thank you for believing in us from day one.”
Amapiano’s Global Rise
Other South African nominees in the category included Dlala Thukzin and Maglera Doe Boy, reflecting the increasing global visibility of local talent. Nominees also came from Nigeria, Tanzania, France, the UK, and Brazil.
TxC’s win is part of amapiano’s explosive global journey. “Consistency, vision, and hard work got us here,” Reid said. “If we can do it, others can too.”
With a base now between Johannesburg and international stages, the duo is determined to continue flying the flag for South African music.
