Nkayi, and the final moments they shared before his passing. “On my birthday last year, my father told me he was ready to leave us. He said, ‘I am tired now, my child, and there is nothing I have not done for you.’ We spent his last weeks on earth tightly knit, and I thank God for that insight and blessing,” she wrote.

In a deeply personal post, Unathi revealed that this year she decided to gift herself two things that represent her growth and renewal. She shared, “I gifted myself with two things for my birthday. Education and newness. I’m currently submitting for my masters candidacy at home @rhodes_university and got a cut by @sonnymagic_hair that we’ve been discussing for over 15 years. On my birthday last year my father told me he was ready to leave us. He said ‘Ndidiniwe mna ngoku mntanam and akhonto ndinganenzelanga yona’ which means ‘I am tired now my child and there is nothing I have not done for you.’ We spent his last weeks on earth tightly knit and I thank God for that insight and BLESSING.
