Vuyokazi Vovo Nguqu slams online bullies after EFF appearance

Reality TV star and content creator Vuyokazi Vovo Nguqu has spoken out against cyberbullying following criticism over her appearance at the EFF’s 12th Birthday Celebration in Khayelitsha, Cape Town.

Vovo, best known from the show Sweet and Short, has been trending online, with users questioning her involvement in the event. Many pointed out that she had previously received a house from the ANC and had publicly praised the ruling party.

Vovo Responds to the Criticism

In an emotional video, the 38-year-old defended herself, saying her attendance was simply to support a friend.

“Was I wrong for supporting a friend? I didn’t say I was part of the EFF,” she explained. “I’m a content creator. Where did I go wrong?”

She clarified that staying in a house given by the ANC does not mean she cannot engage elsewhere. “Also, who said I’m no longer part of the ANC?” she added.

A Plea Against Bullying

Vovo urged the public to stop bullying her and others online:
“Don’t do what you’re doing to me, because another person might kill themselves. But I won’t.”

The Song Controversy

She also addressed backlash over her singing at the event, explaining she only performed to energize the crowd. “I’m not part of the EFF,” she reiterated.
