WATCH: Sello Maake KaNcube and his wife on divorce rumours
Rumors that actor Sello Maake KaNcube and his wife Pearl Mbewe Maake KaNcube are divorcing have been refuted.
A week after Sunday World revealed that the former The Herd star and his wife had split up, they have responded to reports of a divorce.The newspaper was informed by a source that after their 2021 marriage ended in arguments over Maake KaNcube’s purported ex-partner, the actor chased Mbewe from their Dube, Soweto, home.
The actor apparently attempted to rekindle their romance by sending a delegation to pay Maake KaNcube’s wife the leftover lobolo after she moved out, but Mbewe turned him down.The actor approached Swanepoel van Zyl Attorneys to assist him in filing for divorce after failing to get Mbewe back. The firm allegedly demanded payment in full up front (R25,000).
Maake KaNcube confirmed calling the law firm in an interview with Sunday World.
He replied, “I haven’t even paid them yet.” Maake KaNcube was previously married to Palesa Mboweni, with whom he was married in 2015 but filed for divorce eight months later.
Addressing the rumors of a divorce Pearl Mbewe Maake KaNcube thanked Sello Maake in a Facebook post for being a wonderful husband. She continued by expressing her plea for people to leave him alone.
SHE WROTE: “You have been to me what the world will never even begin to understand.How I wish people could just and give you a break! In what may seem like me coming to your defense, the truth is being with you has elevated me to heights I never thought possible. I’m sending you love and strength in this trying time of our lives. I will forever love you and your spirit shall and will remain unshaken. YOU ARE A GOOD MAN. Father, son and a sibling. More than anything, you have been a beautiful and wonderful husband,” she wrote.
In response, Maake KaNcube re-shared his wife’s post and said: “It’s sad how people are so quick to judge!“After all the bad comments and insults, the truth shall set us free! I have always and will always honour my position as a man and husband.”
