Woza Afrika founder passes away
MUSICIAN shot and killed.

Mzansi is mourning the tragic death of Manqoba Ntombela, the founder of the legendary music group Woza Afrika.
The 62-year-old was shot and killed outside his home in Ratanda, Heidelberg on Friday night, 16 May.
Ntombela made waves with the popular Woza Afrika track, Istokvel.
But Ntombela was more than just a musician and wore many hats as a former school teacher, spaza shop owner and also ran a minibus taxi business, playing a big role in the Heidelberg community both economically and culturally.
His son, Mfundo told Daily Sun his father had just returned from his nearby spaza shop when tragedy struck.
“He was from the spaza shop which is five houses away. He was killed as he was about to enter the yard and park the car. We are not sure about the suspect. The police are still investigating. They came and took fingerprints, but I’m not sure how far they are now,” said Mfundo.
He said his father didn’t die at the scene, but died on his way to hospital.
Mfundo described his father as more than just a parent.
“I am failing to explain my feelings right now. My dad was my pillar of strength and my mentor. He was not just a father to me, he was a father to the whole community,” he said.
The police said investigations are ongoing and the motive for the killing remains unclear.
