DJ Warras Laid to Rest in Cultural Farewell, Cremation to Take Place on 24 December 2025
The late DJ Warras was honoured with a culturally rich and emotional farewell as family, friends, and colleagues gathered for his funeral service held on Tuesday, 23 December 2025.

The private service took place at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rosebank, where members of the media and music industries joined the Stock family to bid farewell to the respected broadcaster and DJ.

One of the most poignant moments of the service came as DJ Warras’ three sons and the pallbearers entered the church dressed in black suits adorned with umqhele, a traditional Zulu headband. The gesture symbolised deep respect for his heritage and the cultural traditions he valued. His coffin, crafted with traditional cattle skin, further highlighted the cultural significance of the farewell.

Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock was fatally shot on 16 December 2025 in the Johannesburg Central Business District. He was 40 years old at the time of his death.
Addressing mourners at the service, his sister Nicole Stock spoke on behalf of the family, expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support and remembering her brother as a devoted father, family man, and passionate broadcaster whose impact extended far beyond the airwaves.
The family has confirmed that DJ Warras will be cremated on Wednesday, 24 December 2025, during a private family ceremony.
